Dr. Belinda Hollingsworth CPsychol DPsych (Clinical) BPsych (Hons)

Belinda has joined us from Canberra where she is qualified as a Registered Psychologist and is a member of the Clinical College within the Australian Psychology Society (APS). She is a Chartered Psychologist, Registered and Accredited with the Health Professionals Council and the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a member of it's Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP).

She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate clinical training at the prestigious Australian National University (ANU) and has also since untaken additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychopharmacology and Suicidality.

Belinda has gained invaluable experience within academic, public and private settings. She has coordinated workshops at both undergraduate and postgraduate level at ANU on a range of psychology courses, including the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of self-harming behaviour. She has conducted research in the area of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and memory and also around the role that self-criticism plays in psychological, social and occupational functioning.

She has developed expertise, in assessing and managing high risk and acute distress within a time limited framework, while working within the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT) for the Australian public mental health system.

Belinda has gained experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families with a wide range of presenting concerns including: depression, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, phobias, grief, relationship difficulties, stress management, work stress, substance dependence, eating disorders, post traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, psychosis, mania, suicidality, low self-esteem, somatoform disorders, chronic pain, anger management and emotion dysregulation.

Belinda places a strong emphasis on the growth and development of the therapeutic alliance with all her clients and integrates her approach from a wide repertoire of evidenced-based treatments, including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Interpersonal Therapy (IT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
