Katharine is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council, UK. She is a full Chartered member of the Division of Clinical Psychology (BPS).
After successfully completing her clinical training at the University of Nottingham, she has since acquired extensive clinical experience within both the NHS and private sector providing psychological therapy and healthcare consultancy. She has a sound knowledge and expertise in working effectively with individuals (adolescents and adults), groups and organisations. Furthermore, she is trained and highly proficient in administering a range of psychometric tests and assessments. In recent years she has developed skills and a unique specialty in adolescent forensic mental health and eating disorders (adults and adolescents), working within a range of diverse settings including schools, foster placements, secure settings, primary care and in-patient hospital services.
She has been trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Systemic, Family and Narrative therapeutic approaches and has also completed introductory training in Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT). Furthermore, she is highly skilled in utilising Motivational Enhancement and Interviewing techniques and has also completed intensive training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming (EMDR). She adopts an integrative approach to psychological therapy and is skilled at providing both short and longer term interventions, placing significant emphasis on developing a strong and positive relationship with clients.
She has considerable experience and expertise in treating a range of emotional, psychological and mental health difficulties including: depression, anxiety (including phobias and health anxiety), work and occupational stress, sleep problems, relationship difficulties, bereavement, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorder, self-injurious, violent and sexualised behaviour, childhood trauma and eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder).
Katharine has vast experience providing psychological training and coaching within organisations to address problematic group dynamics and to motivate and refocus teams. She is experienced at designing and implementing highly effective psychological interventions in line with an organisation's specific culture and values. Her research interests are varied and in particular she has conducted psychological research around the impact of culture and ethnicity on mental health.
