Rumina is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council, UK. She is also a Chartered member of the Division of Clinical Psychology (BPS).

Rumina completed her clinical training at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London, before pursuing a joint research and clinical role at the Institute of Psychiatry and the Maudsley Hospital, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust where she still works today. She has experience of working with clients experiencing a range of physical and mental health difficulties, within both in-patient and out-patient settings, in a variety of different modalities, including individual, group, and couples therapy.

Rumina's doctorate training and experience to date have given her a firm understanding of the theoretical underpinnings and application of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for a variety of disorders including stress, anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, depression, psychosis, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), sexual dysfunction and bereavement, with client groups across the life span. She has completed EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) training for the treatment of PTSD and has experience in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance-Based Cognitive methods. She also has expertise in administering a range of neuropsychological and psychometric assessments. Her clinical training and experiences to date have allowed her to develop as an effective and competent scientific and reflective practitioner. Within the therapeutic context Rumina is conscious of developing a collaborative and genuine working relationship with her clients.

Rumina's research interests lie predominately within psychosis and she currently works on a research project looking at improving access to psychological therapy for those with mental health difficulties within in-patient hospital services. She has also conducted her own research around Cognitive Remediation Therapy for those with a diagnosis of schizophrenia as well as presenting her work at national and international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.

Rumina has maintained her links with the Institute of Psychiatry's Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training programme and has recently become a Personal Tutor on the course. She also teaches and facilitates tutorials for trainees completing the course.
