“There is no one-size-fits-all. I believe in creating a safe space for transformational conversations that will help you move forward through the challenges that you are currently facing. I hold an open mind when asking about what a person requires help with and strive to identify their strengths alongside the areas they are struggling with”
I am currently the principle Counselling Psychologist working across three acute services in the NHS.
I use an integrative framework that draws from cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based therapies (including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), attachment theory and systemic thinking to help you find your own ‘fit’.
I understand issues that may arise at points of transitions and I consider the need and the wider context that people are coming from. I take a holistic approach when working with clients, and simplify ideas to provide purposeful, meaningful interventions to sustain positive outcomes.
Zahra provides tailored evidence-based psychological interventions drawing from cognitive behavioural (CBT, and mindfulness-based CBTs, including ACT), systemic and psychodynamic therapies.
Zahra provides assessment, formulation, treatment and management of a range of mental health problems including mood disorders (e.g. depression and anxiety), drug and alcohol problems and personality disorders and parental mental health and has a special interest in disordered eating.
Zahra has worked with people experiencing a full range of emotional difficulties and life challenges including relationship difficulties, life stage transition challenges and family dynamics such as post-divorce and separation. By helping people to stay hopeful, motivated and on-track, Zahra encourages her clients to set SMART goals and embrace positive change that they want to see in their lives.
