Josie is a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. She is a member of the British Psychological Society's Division of Counselling Psychology and its Psychology of Women Section. She is also a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. Josie has also completed extensive training in Applied Hypnosis at University College London and has completed specialist training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. Furthermore, Josie holds a certificate of competence from the British Psychological Society in Occupational Psychometric Testing.

Her clinical experience covers a diverse range of settings which includes work in schools, GPs surgeries, several specialist services (eating disorders, domestic violence and refugee and asylum seekers), the prison service and both forensic and non-forensic adolescent hospital in-patient services. She is highly skilled at providing psychological therapy to individuals, families and groups.

She has also provided clinical supervision to trainee psychologists as well as offering specialist training, consultation and lectures to various mental health organisations, including Goodmayes Hospital, Essex and Cygnet Hospital, Stevenage. In addition, Josie has taught as a sessional lecturer with Birkbeck, University of London, for several years on their Psychology course, teaching topics such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Abnormal Psychology.

Josie is currently undertaking doctoral studies with the University of Bristol in 'Narrative and Life Story Research' for which some of her work is currently under review for publication.

She is proficient in several therapeutic models, including cognitive and behavioural interventions (CBT and DBT), brief solutions focussed and/or solution oriented techniques, client-centred therapy and play therapy (for children) and may include other skills such as the use of mindfulness and also hypnosis when appropriate. Her areas of specialist interest include; eating disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma, depression, self-harm and suicide, personality disorders and adolescent mental health.

Josie is a passionate, experienced and skilled trainer and clinician.
