Thomas Midgley
Thomas Midgley, BSc (Hons) SRD

Thomas is a consultant nutritionist and registered dietitian with the Health Professional's Council, the gold standard for nutrition advice. He is also a member of the British Dietetics Association (BDA), BDA Freelance Dietitian's Group, BDA Mental Health Group, BDA Sports Dietitian's Group (DISEN) and the London Eating Disorders Dietitian's Group.
He studied both Psychology and Nutrition and then Applied Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, before working for many years in the NHS specialising as a dietitian in renal, gastric and epidemiological medicine.
Over the last 7 years he has worked almost exclusively in the area of eating disorders and weight reduction. Gaining related qualifications in the process:
- Foundations of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) 2005 - 2006 [West London Mental Health service].
- Practitioner skills in eating disorders diploma 2006. Approved by the British Psychological Society 1999-2001 and the Royal College of Psychiatrists 2000-2001 [The National Centre for Eating Disorders].
- Currently studying a Postgraduate Diploma/Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy at The Royal Holloway University London, 2010 -2011.
Thomas has training and expertise in both the psychological and physiological/medical components of issues relating to nutrition and health. This enables him to work closely with psychological therapists and his clients to help them to gain bespoke insight into their difficulties while developing the tools to bring about positive changes, wellbeing and feel more in control around eating and food.
