"I appreciate how powerful psychological intervention can be in enabling people to improve their quality of life"

About Me
Research & Publications

I aim to provide a warm, compassionate and candid therapeutic environment. This helps us to work together, developing a shared understanding of the present challenges and providing a safe base from which to explore constructive ways to bring about change.

Prior to becoming a Psychologist, I enjoyed a corporate career in the telecommunications, pharmaceutical and medical imaging industries. I opted to change my career path after volunteering for a crisis service, which helped me to appreciate how powerful psychological intervention can be in enabling people to improve their quality of life.

Gynette has worked with people to address a wide variety of mental health difficulties, including post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, phobias, work-related stress, eating disorders and adjustment disorders. She has also worked with people whose physical health is affecting their psychological wellbeing, including people with serious burns, people living with HIV, and those with acute or chronic pain. Gynette has a particular interest in couple therapy.

Gynette provides a range of evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Family Based Therapy (FBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Gynette has experience of working successfully with people of all ages, in a variety of settings including hospitals, specialist services, community clinics, military environments and for charities. She has expertise in working with individuals, couples, groups and families.

Recognising the importance of continued professional development, Gynette regularly participates in further training and supervision to maintain currency and learning. In turn, Gynette provides supervision to other mental health practitioners, including both trainee and Practitioner Psychologists, and has co-presented professional development workshops for therapists.

In addition to her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Gynette has an MBA, furnishing her with a keen understanding of business issues and complexities.
