At the heart of my work is a pluralistic belief that there is no single solution for every person. We are all unique.

In all aspects of my work, I integrate theory and research from psychology, neuroscience and philosophy, to provide evidence-basedinterventions tailored to you. My work is founded on a collaborative and person-centred approach.

Therapy can range from brief interventions, focusing on provision of psychological tools and strategies to help alleviate and manage symptoms of distress, through to deeper explorative inquiry of your inner and outer world, seeking to make sense and understand possible avenues of your struggle. This may include exploring difficulties in past and present relationships via the safety of an empathic and supportive therapeutic relationship.

Through an initial assessment and formulation, we can discuss which therapeutic approach you may find most helpful.

Outside of work I enjoy reading, writing, mindfulness meditation, yoga, hiking, tennis/padel, football and golf (actually, pretty much every sport).

As a counselling psychologist, David initially trained in CBT (including trauma focused) and humanistic person-centred therapy (PCT). He also has training and experience in additional modelsand theories, including psychodynamic, relational, existential and 3rd wave CBT models including mindfulness-based therapy and compassion focused therapy (CFT).

The above areas are only indicative. If you’d like to find out more, you are welcome to book an appointment and during your first session, you can discuss your current situation and any goals you may have, from which David can provide more details on how you could work together.

David initially completed a degree in mechanical engineering and worked in project management consultancy for several years, before pursuing a career in his hobby, passion and love - psychology.

Additional to circa 17 years of working in project management and consultancy, he has spent circa 10 years providing psychological therapy in private practice, blue-chip finance/corporate sector and as a senior psychologist in the NHS. This includes several years at a neurological charity, delivering a range of counselling and psychotherapy as well as managing the overall counselling service. He also provides clinical supervision to trainee and qualified therapists.
