How Do I Know If My Child Needs Help?

It can be hard to decide whether your child needs psychological therapy or is just experiencing the usual challenges of growing up. 

Get in touch with us and we will be able to meet with you and your child to discuss your concerns, how your child feels about things, and the best way forward.

Some common signs that your child might need psychological therapy include:

  • Decline in school performance

  • Loss of interest in things they once enjoyed

  • Avoiding friends or family and wanting to be alone all the time

  • Seeming sad or tearful much of the time

  • Self-harm

  • Worrying excessively

  • Behavioural problems such as acting out and tantrums, trouble at school, or breaking the law

  • Communication problems

  • Worries about their physical appearance that have a significant effect on their wellbeing

  • Difficulty in concentrating or sitting still

  • A need to wash, clean things, or perform certain routines many times a day

  • Persistent nightmares or flashbacks of past events

  • Alcohol or drug use

  • Undereating, overeating, or overeating followed by purging
